strength to strength
"So they both let themselves be seen by the Philistine garrison............"
1 Samuel 14:11
As I've written, building your character breeds the influence most of us crave. The relationship between the two can exist like one breathing. The deeper you inhale, the stronger you can exhale. Breathing in can be related to bringing someone closer. It has an intimate feel. Likewise, allowing yourself to be seen can feel highly personal. Yet, most of us want to hide who we are.
If I bring someone close enough to see the real me, what will they see? Who will they become? Will they become like me? Is that what I want?
For so much of my life, I've longed to be seen and indeed seen. But to be seen means we must let others know who we are. Therein lies the rub. This means we have to let others inside our cloak of invisibility. Allowing another person inside our thoughts and reality can be very intimidating. We are convinced that anyone that sees the real us will run for the hills. And we have proof because people have run from us before. So, this gives us reason never to let anyone get that close again.
When this happens, we choose to retreat into the safety of anonymity. It allows us to stay uninvolved. It disguises our indifference and our chosen isolation. It creates a place we can hunker down and do whatever we like, whenever we want. It becomes a very selfish place. And, over time, it becomes a comfortable place to be.
On the other hand, seeking attention has its own set of problems. First, it takes a lot of work to keep up a facade you have created to promote yourself. Secondly, it can cause more isolation in your life. Finally, it's hard work keeping up with all the little lies. You are living knowing that someone could discover the real you. Will they like that person? Who wants to live like that? Not me!
"Who will go on My behalf?"
Is the risk in been seen worth it? I think it is. If you want your life to count, risk must be involved. It is all about stepping up and making sure your life counts.
Have you moved to the back when you were needed up front?
Are you tired of the labels average, mediocre, normal, compliant, predictable, safe, or ordinary? These are great ways of describing the invisible.
Stepping up can be easy when it's in your wheelhouse, right? But what if God has asked you to do something you've only dreamed about and never thought possible?
By the way, many successful people didn't feel "comfortable" when they set out to be successful. Nevertheless, they pushed through and equipped themselves for the battle. They moved to the point of no return.
The most incredible opportunities require the highest risk!
If I want to be living life to the fullest, I must be willing to trust God and risk everything. That is a tall order! I must let others see the authentic me in everything I set out to do.
How do I do that?
I took the opportunity and dug into the strengths and talents my God has given me. I found out who He had equipped me to be. Once I discovered I'd already been qualified, I stepped into everything the Lord had given me to do with grace and confidence.
I can help you discover who you've been equipped to be in this life. Because the Lord has given me the tools to uncover who I was meant to be, I can share them with you! I will guide you through the process of giving your strengths a voice.
Join me on this journey of stepping to the front!!
